Maui Fabrication is dedicated to creativity, cultural preservation, sustainability, empowerment, and long-term community development
Maui Fabrication founded on island in 2012; servicing hotels and retail facilities has undergone significant expansion to support projects like the Grand Wailea Teak Refinishing Project:
-
- Refinished approximately 5,000 in-suite teak furnishings within over 800 guest rooms on-site
- Requiring nearly 20 employees primarily “finishing” woodworkers – whom did not have prior experience
- Launched Alaka’i Apprenticeship Program providing “on-site” wood refinishing skills trainings and integrating industry standards
Creativity:
– Pushing Boundaries: We are passionate about pushing the boundaries of design, engineering, and craftsmanship to create innovative architectural features, custom furniture, and security entrances that inspire creativity and set new standards in the industry.
Cultural Preservation:
– Culturally Enriching: Our ties with local Hawaiian leaders (Alaka’i) and protectors (Ho’omalu) provide access to private lands, fostering connections with traditional stories and values, ensuring that our craftsmanship and designs honor and preserve Hawaiian culture and heritage.
Sustainability:
– Sustainability and Waste Reduction: Championing the motto “Waste is Stupid!” we responsibly utilize reclaimed lumber from the island, collaborating with local arborists and landowners, to minimize our ecological footprint and promote sustainable practices that benefit the environment and the community.
Community Development:
– Creating Generational Opportunities: We are committed to providing valuable career options to generations of Hawaiians by equipping them with vocational skills and fostering confidence, resilience, and pride. This aligns with the vision of Maui’s Mayor to create opportunities that encourage and enable young people to stay on the islands and contribute to the local community as well as their ohana.
Empowerment:
– Empowering the Community: Through our state-of-the-art teaching facility, we will impart lifelong skills and work ethics to individuals of all ages, enabling them to make a good living in Hawaii’s high-cost-of-living state and fostering economic empowerment within the community.
